Yes, Sound Booster can increase volume of any Windows application. For example, it can be a web browser or a media player.

What operating systems are supported?

Sound Booster supports all major Windows versions: Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10/11, both 32 and 64 bit.

How does Sound Booster work?

Sound Booster seamlessly integrates with every application on the system that produces sound, processing the output audio stream before it reaches the sound card’s input.

Activation and licensing

What is the activation?

Activation helps combat software piracy, ensuring customers receive the genuine, high-quality software they expect.

Activation links your product key to the hardware on which it’s installed. After using the product key the maximum number of times allowed, on the same or different computers, it cannot be used to activate Sound Booster on any other device. Activation is required to continue using the software after the trial period expires.

During activation, the following product key information is sent to Letasoft:

  • The product code, which is a five-digit code that identifies the product you are activating.
  • The data of installation.
  • Information that helps confirm that the product key information has not been altered.
  • Activation also sends Letasoft a unique identifier generated from your computer’s hardware configuration. This identifier doesn’t contain any personal information, software details, or specifics about your computer’s make or model. Additionally, some language settings are collected along with standard computer information.

What do I need to activate Sound Booster?

You will need the product key that has been emailed to you upon purchasing Sound Booster and a connection to the Internet.

How can I activate without the Internet?

Sound Booster can be activated offline, but the process may take longer. For detailed instructions, please contact our support team at support@letasoft.com.

Why am I getting “The product key you typed is already in use” message?

It appears you may have exceeded the maximum number of activations allowed for your Sound Booster edition. Please contact us at support@letasoft.com.

Privacy Statement

The software can detect and accept changes to your PC configuration. Minor upgrades do not require re-activation. If you uninstall the product you might be required to activate your product again. Some changes to your computer components or the software might require you to reactivate the software.

If you are unable to complete activation, you might receive a message with a link to a Web site where you can learn more about why activation failed. If you choose to follow that link, information about why you failed activation is sent to Letasoft. This information might include information normally sent during activation.

You might also be asked to reactivate your copy of the software. If this happens, an Activation Wizard might allow you to obtain more information online about your licensing state and how to resolve activation issues. Choosing to obtain information online about your licensing state sends information normally sent during activation.

If you do not activate or reactivate your copy of the software, you might not be able to use it or it might be marked as not properly licensed. For example, there might be a visual indication in the title bar that your copy is not properly licensed.

None of the information collected through activation or reactivation is used to personally identify you. In certain cases, such as where activation is done by using a volume licensing key or when your product is being checked to see if it is genuine, none of the information related to activation is sent to Letasoft.

How can I move Sound Booster to a different computer?

If your license allows you to install Sound Booster on only one computer, you will need to deactivate Sound Booster on the old computer before you can activate it on the new one. This can be easily done by clicking the “Deactivate Software…” menu item in Sound Booster’s context menu. If you encounter any problems with this process, please let us know, and we will gladly help.

Using Sound Booster

How can I make Sound Booster start on Windows startup?

Right-click the Sound Booster icon in the system tray and select “Settings.” In the dialog box that appears, check the “Start on Windows startup” option to enable Sound Booster to start automatically when your computer starts.

Why does the audio volume occasionally return to its original level?

This behavior is likely because you’re using the trial version of Sound Booster, which temporarily stops amplifying sound for 5 seconds every 5 minutes.

Why does the sound become distorted when I use Sound Booster?

Sound Booster has limitations. If your PC’s speakers cannot handle the increased volume output, you may experience distortion. Try reducing the boost level in Sound Booster’s settings. We are continuously working to improve sound quality, so check out the latest version; the issue may have been resolved.

How can I assign a hot key to control boost level?

Right-click on the icon of Sound Booster in the system tray. Choose the Settings menu item. In the dialog that opens, you can assign two separate hotkeys for increasing and decreasing the boost level.

Sound Booster doesn’t make any difference on my sound. Why?

Ensure the “Enable” checkbox is selected and the boost level slider is set to 500%. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, try switching to a different Boost Mode. If the problem persists, consider enabling the SuperBoost setting, but be aware that it may introduce sound distortions. If you encounter distortion with SuperBoost, try lowering the boost level to 200-300%.

Does Sound Booster impact system performance?

While sound boosting is generally not a demanding task for your computer’s processor, it may result in minor slowdowns on systems with limited processing capabilities. If you encounter this, consider using an alternative Boost Mode other than “Injection and APO effect.” Furthermore, disabling the SuperBoost setting can help conserve CPU resources.

Updates and upgrades

Am I eligible for free upgrade to the latest version?

If you purchased your copy of Sound Booster within the last year, you are eligible for a free upgrade to the latest version.

How can I upgrade to the latest version?

Right-click on the Sound Booster icon in the system tray. Select the “Check for Update…” menu item. In the “Check for Update” dialog, click the “Check” button. Now you can see if there is a newer version of Sound Booster available. Note that this feature requires an internet connection.

Do I need a new product key to install the new version?

No, you can use your current product key to install the new version. Typically, you won’t be asked for your product key during the installation process, as new versions can automatically recognize your existing activation.
